Mysterious Footprints – Pre-A0+ English Story 4

Whose footprints are these? 🐾

In Mysterious Footprints, Ella, Dave, Mia and Tim discover animal tracks at preschool and try to work out who left them.

This Pre-A0+ English story helps children learn simple questions, animal words and everyday phrases naturally through pictures, actions and context.

What happens in the story?

Ella, Dave, Mia and Tim are at preschool with Ms Star when they discover mysterious footprints.

The children look carefully at the tracks and try to guess which animals made them. Is it a dog? A cat? A duck?

But there is another mystery to solve — where is Bunny?

The friends follow the clues together and continue their search.

Watch the story

As you watch, look at the footprints and listen for these words and phrases:

  • Look!
  • Footprints!
  • What is it?
  • What animal is it?
  • It’s a dog!
  • It’s a cat!
  • It’s a duck!
  • Where is Bunny?
  • I don’t know.
  • Let’s go!

Do not worry if you do not understand every word. Look at the characters, their gestures and the pictures. They will help you understand what is happening.

Check your understanding

After watching, try answering these questions:

  • What do the children find?
  • What animals do they talk about?
  • Which animal makes these footprints?
  • Who are the children looking for?
  • What does Mia say when she does not know?
  • What do the friends do next?

You can also pause the video and repeat the characters’ sentences aloud.

Practise talking about animals

Look at pictures of different animals and practise asking and answering:

What animal is it?
It’s a dog!

What animal is it?
It’s a cat!

What animal is it?
It’s a duck!

Now try asking the question with other animals you already know.

You can also practise:

Where is Bunny?
I don’t know.
Let’s go!
